Military Veterans may be eligible for disability compensation and health care benefits for diseases that the Department of Veterans Affairs has recognized as related to exposure to Agent Orange or other herbicides. Surviving spouses, dependent children and dependent parents of Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange and died as the result of diseases related to Agent Orange exposure may be eligible for survivors’ benefits. Circle of Hope is a group of committed Christian assistance and fellowship for those who are unemployed and underemployed. We offer support in resume writing, job leads, and networking. We have a resource guide available in the main office, and a bulletin board outside the parish hall with job information. We meet twice a month after the Wednesday noon healing service for lunch, friendship, and helping out those transitioning to a new place of employment. Helpline 2-1-1 is a community helpline providing free access to emotional support and telephone counseling services. By simply dialing 2-1-1, you reach caring, trained counselors who provide supportive counseling, information and referrals to programs within the community. The counselor listens carefully to the concerns of the caller and help develop a plan. The counselor may provide information about more than 1,200 human service programs and mental health providers in the Big Bend area. The service is confidential and anonymous.
